M is for Matt

M is for Matt.

Matt is my oldest brother, he is 20. Matt has gold hair and is kind of short. Matt lives in Calgary, kind of, he moves places around the world training. It wasn't all like this when he was in school he still trained but he just went and missed school to train with the Ontario team and came back and had to keep up with his school work. Some of you have met him and Upper School has to because he was the speaker at the athletic banquet.

When he graduated from grade 12 he moved out as soon as possible to join the National Developing team hoping to pursue his love for snowboarding and going to the Olympics. Now that he lives in Calgary he goes across the world to places like Europe, Australia, Canada, and Russia. Right now Matt is in Europe competing in a world cup, with the people who are going to the Olympics. He was awarded these world cups because he won a Norma which is an American world cup. Recently he has come second in something and other places.

Matt only comes home maybe 3 times a year but it’s worth it and so we’re so happy he is living out his dream. So I think that he is an example of someone who continued his passion and worked hard to be the best he can be and he is getting better. Even the times where it got hard because of all the school work. Even when Matt dislocated his shoulder snowboarding he kept racing.

I think that if you have a passion like my brother did then don't give up on your dream keep pursuing it, and maybe in a while you could be as close to be in the Olympics.
